About Community In Motion
We're excited to announce the 2019 edition of Community In Motion!
This year's event will take place Saturday, July 13, at Garry Point Park, from 9:00am to 1:00pm. Once again, it's about two things: getting active and getting involved in your community!
To get you active, we've created three different routes – 1 km, 5 km, and 10 km – around Garry Point and along the West Dyke Trail. You can walk, run, or bike any of the routes, and do so at your own pace. Once you're finished, we'll provide you with a healthy snack!
But we also want to grow your appetite for community involvement. As such, a number of Richmond non-profit organizations will be in attendance, providing information on their services, as well as their volunteer opportunities and other ways you can lend your support. We have no doubt you'll find an organization – and a cause – that resonates with you!
Plus, there will be fun activities like face painting, a community treasure hunt, and an Instagram photo booth!
There's no fee to take part in Community In Motion, though we are encouraging attendees to each make a $1 donation, on the day of the event. This money will be divided among the participating organizations.
Richmond Early Years Fair
Community In Motion is meant to be a family-friendly – and kid-friendly – event. That will definitely be
the case again this year, as we welcome back the Richmond Early Years Fair!
The Fair will be part of Community In Motion, and
feature a wide range of interactive activities for children aged 0 to 6.
Among the participating organizations will be the Richmond Public Library
, who will lead a storytelling walk around Garry Point Park. The Richmond Child Care Resource & Referral Centre
, Family Services of Greater Vancouver
, Richmond School District
, and the City of Richmond’s Physical Literacy Program
all have fun activities planned as well. Meanwhile, Vancouver Coastal Health
will be on hand to provide information on its speech and language, audiology, and dental services.
There will also be a musical performance from funky and educational children’s performer Marnie Grey
To be clear: you don’t have to take part in the walk, run, or bike ride to attend the Early Years Fair. It’s a
free event that’s open to all! Just remember to bring sunscreen and a hat – for you and your little ones –
as we’re predicting a spectacularly sunny day!
